FAQ
Getting Started
-
Yes. I'm currently welcoming new clients and can often schedule an initial appointment within one to two weeks. I offer in-person therapy in Northwest Austin (MoPac & Far West) and Round Rock, as well as secure online therapy for clients throughout Texas, including Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Leander, and surrounding communities.
-
I work with individuals (ages 13+), couples, and families seeking support for trauma, relationship challenges, family conflict, anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, and life transitions. Many of the people I work with are healing from relational trauma, including betrayal, emotionally immature family systems, attachment wounds, and painful relationship patterns.
-
Appointments are generally available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with limited evening appointments available by request.
-
Most clients begin with a free 15-minute phone or Zoom consultation so we can determine whether we're a good fit. In some situations, we may decide together that scheduling an initial therapy session is the best place to start. You can use the booking link below to schedule, or email me at tsavener@seekthesun.net if you don't see a time that works for your schedule.
-
We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and any questions you have about the process. It's also an opportunity for us to determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
If we decide to move forward, we'll schedule your first appointment in Northwest Austin, Round Rock, or online anywhere in Texas.
-
The first session focuses on understanding your concerns, your goals, and the experiences that have brought you to therapy. I'll ask questions to gain a clear picture of your needs, answer any questions you have, and begin developing a plan that fits your goals and circumstances.

-
Yes. While I work with a wide range of trauma and relationship concerns, some issues are best served by clinicians or programs with specialized resources.
I do not provide primary treatment for active substance or alcohol dependence, eating disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
In couples therapy, I am not able to work with relationships involving ongoing domestic violence or coercive control, untreated severe mental health conditions that significantly impair stability or safety, or ongoing secretive affairs.
When appropriate, I am happy to provide referrals for a higher level of care or a clinician whose expertise better matches your needs.
-
No. I do not provide crisis services, emergency care, after-hours support, or case management.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or believe you may be in immediate danger, call 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or contact your local crisis service.
Therapy Process
-
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some concerns can be addressed in a relatively short period of time, while deeper trauma or longstanding relationship patterns often benefit from longer-term work. We'll regularly review your progress and adjust treatment based on your goals and needs.
-
Yes. Individual therapy can be highly effective, even if your partner or family members are not ready to participate. If couples or family therapy becomes appropriate later, we can discuss that together.
-
I support clients in exploring their experiences and making decisions that align with their values, emotional well-being, and long-term goals, whether that involves reconnection, establishing healthier boundaries, or maintaining distance and ongoing estrangement. Therapy provides a supportive space to process grief, confusion, guilt, and relational stress without pressure or judgment.
-
In couples therapy, the relationship is the client. Because of that, I do not hold significant secrets between partners. If something important comes up during an individual conversation, we'll work together to bring it into the therapeutic process in a thoughtful, safe, and constructive way.
